Carballo é a sede da Final 4 cadete masculina e feminina, que reunirá entre o domingo e o luns a oito equipos e máis de 250 deportistas en busca dunha praza nos sectores nacionais da categoría. O presidente da Federación Galega de Balonmán, Bruno López, estivo hoxe na casa do Concello para presentar a competición, na que colaboran as Escolas Balonmán Xiria e o propio Concello de Carballo. O club carballés estivo representado no acto por José Antonio Rodríguez Fraga, vicepresidente primeiro; Jéssica Posse Díaz, coordinadora, e Toni García, adestrador do equipo masculino; en tanto que por parte do concello asistiron o concelleiro de Deporte, Marcos Trigo, e o alcalde, Evencio Ferrero.
O presidente da Federación cualificou esta Final 4 como “un dos eventos máis importantes do balonmán base”, polo que augurou que temos por diante “unha fin de semana de desfrute do balonmán galego, de moito balonmán e, sobre todo, de moito nerviosismo, porque hai en xogo unha praza no sector nacional, tanto na categoría feminina coma na masculina”. Bruno López expresou o seu agradecemento tanto ao club coma ao Concello, e asegurou que “vir a Carballo é garantía de implicación e de éxito”.
Nese sentido, o vicepresidente primeiro de Balonmán Xiria asegurou que a colaboración do club responde ao obxectivo común de deportistas, equipo técnico, directiva e mesmo público: “Que haxa moito balonmán”.
A Final 4 cadete reunirá en Carballo aos equipos cadetes dos clubs Mecalia Atlético Guardés, SAR de Redondela, Cangas Frigoríficos Morrazo e Rodeiro, na categoría feminina, e Cisne, Carballal, Ribeiro e Xiria, na masculina. O adestrador do equipo carballés manifestou o seu desexo de conseguir a “ansiada praza” para o sector nacional, pero sobre todo destacou que “xogaremos no mellor escenario de balonmán que hai no norte de Galicia, que é o Vila de Noia, onde sempre se xogaron moitas competicións e onde esperemos estar algún día o máis arriba posible, e para iso fan falla competicións coma esta”.
O alcalde pechou o acto felicitando á Federación “polo magnífico traballo que está a facer. Creo que nos últimos anos o balonmán en Galicia está a ter un impulso importante, e o nivel do balonmán galego está crecendo moito. Proba dilo é que esta Final Four cadete na categoría masculina tivo que adiarse porque dous xogadores galegos están competindo coa selección española en Túnez, e un deles é de Carballo, Henrique Traba Méndez, que se formou aquí en Xiria”.
