O Asmubal Meaño logrou o ascenso a Primeira Nacional Masculina, tras realizar unha fase de ascenso inmaculada e vencer no partido decisivo ao Zarautz. Era o partido, a final na que todo se decidiría e na que aos locais só lle servía a vitoria. Enfronte o Zaratuz, un equipo que asustou durante os dous primeiros partidos nos que arroiou aos seus rivais e logrou unhas vantaxes que lle poñían por diante en caso de empate.
Pero o Asmubal Meaño non se asustou. Traballou o partido desde o minuto 1 ao 60, sabendo que a concentración e o traballo defensivo eran claves para estar metidos no partido. E así foi. Así, con esta igualdade chegouse aos cinco minutos finais (22-22), nos que o conxunto do Salnés aproveitou os erros en ataque dos vascos para chegar con dous goles de vantaxe a 90 segundos para o final. O golazo de Alberto a falta de algo máis dun minuto puxo ao bordo do infarto á bancada, xa que o empate servíalle aos de Zarautz. E tiveron bóla para logralo, pero non puideron chegar a poñer a proba a Vari, xa que a defensa encargouse de impedir este lanzamento. E explotou a festa no Pavillón de Coirón.
