Cando saímos as oito a aplaudir aos nosos sanitarios, tamén vai por Raquel! Raquel García, viguesa de 21 anos e xogadora de balonmán, comezou a súa relación co balonmán dende moi nena no Carballal. No club vigués estivo ata que se marchou para Navarra para estudar sen esquecer a súa relación co balonmán (xoga no Loyola de División de Honra Prata feminina).
Descubriu que a súa vocación era enfermería case por casualidade. Sempre pensara que quería ser médica, pero cando solicitou unha beca para a Universidade de Navarra, aconselláronlle que fixera tamén a previo de enfermería, por se non lle daban praza en medicina. “Cando me dixeron que me aceptaran en enfermería, comezaron a mandarme vídeos… Saltoume un clip na cabeza e me din conta de que o que eu quería de verdade era ser enfermeira, ter trato directo cos pacientes, estar no seu día a día…”.
Así, cambiou de plans e finalmente, tras conseguir a beca, estudou enfermería en Navarra, onde leva xa catro cursos, en xuño remataba a súa formación. “Xa acabara o lectivo e agora mesmo estabamos coas prácticas na Clínica Universitaria, pero polo estado de alarma, suspenderon todo e volvín a casa”.
Cando estaba en Vigo, o 25 de marzo Raquel recibiu un correo electrónico e todo se arranxou en poucas horas: “Mandáronme un email preguntando si queríamos ir a axudar a Madrid e dixen que se me facilitaba aloxamento, ía xa mesmo. Isto foi un mércores e o venres xa estaba collendo un tren en dirección a Madrid”. Durme nun hotel con varias compañeiras de Universidade e teñen un autobús directo á Clínica Universitaria, onde está a traballar con enfermos de COVID-19. Son quendas de 12 horas e remata moi cansa pero feliz de poder axudar nesta pandemia: “os enfermos están solos, necesitan da túa compañía, atención. A verdade é que é moi duro tanto para eles como para nós. Teño unhas compañeiras incribles, hai un gran compañeirismo, axúdante en todo e ademais son superagradecidas”.
Na Clínica Universitaria, nestes momentos, hai material de protección segundo nos explicou Raquel: “si que es verdade que quizás ao principio había máis descontrol, agora parece que se está estabilizando e chega mellor. Dende dentro, o que vexo é moita carga de traballo, pero moito mellor que ao principio, polo que din as compañeiras. Ademais temos que darnos conta de que é un problema non ir protexido porque se te contaxias, non podes seguir traballando. É moi fácil contaxiarse, hai que ir pensando moi ben todo o que fas para evitar en todo o posible os riscos”.
Así é Raquel, solidaria, valente, optimista e entregada… Como todos eses milleiros de persoas que fan o seu traballo para coidarnos e permitirnos que poidas quedar na casa e superar así esta pandemia global.
