A EHF Champions League da tempada 2019/20 vai ter unha resolución diferente á esperada. Non poderá ser nas pistas de xogo, co público nas gradas, pero teremos a oportunidade de gozar dunha versión virtual, da man do adestrador galego Pablo Blanco.
A idea xurdiu como un mero pasatempos para poder xogar cos amigos hai varios anos, cando Pablo estaba estudando programación, pero tiña algunhas carencias e, como non había tempo para perfeccionalo, quedara un pouco esquecido. O torneo virtual comezou cun apaixonante SG Flensburg-Handewitt – Montpellier que tivo que chegar á tanda de 7 metros para resolverse a favor dos franceses. O FC Porto Sofarma superou ao Aalborg Handbold con claridade (32-22) e o terceiro partido de oitavos de final enfrontaría ao Celje Pivovarna e o Vive Kielce con 4 hispanos no seu plantel. Os polacos no deron opcións ao Celje e venceron por 19 a 26. Quedan 3 partidos de oitavos de final por disputarse: o Dinamo Bucaresti – Paris Saint Germain (2 de maio), o HC Vardar – MOL Pick Szeged (5 de maio) e o Wisla Plock – Veszprem (8 de maio), todos ás 18:00h. Os cuartos de final comezarán o 11 de maio e a Final Four disputarase a fin de semana do 23 e 24 de maio. Pablo recorda que o obxectivo fundamental é “entreter á xente do balonmán e botar unhas risas”.
E agora teremos a opción inglesa. Coa competición xa iniciada, Chris O’Reilly, comentarista dos partidos emitidos pola EHF, interesouse no proxecto e decidiu poñer voz á versión inglesa da competición simulada. Xunto con Marcio Menino retransmitiron o primeiro partido destes oitavos de final entre Flensburg e Montpellier. Irase emitindo un partido en inglés ao día ata que alcancen aos partidos retransmitidos en español. A partir dese intre, ambas versións publicaranse de forma simultánea.
